Progress Report 7: 29 November 2011
Stonework & Walls
Works have progressed well during the month of November excepting problems with deliveries of the artstone facing for the lower external walls, window lintels and entrance. Nobles, our contractors, have had to rephase masonary work because of this to keep work on site moving on.
The view from the Church Tower shows the walls of the services rooms (kitchen, stores, toilets etc) and the end wall to storerooms in the main hall taking shape. The corridor running through the building now stands out. This will link the main entrance (from the Churchyard) to the museum and connect to all the rooms within the centre.
Artstone is being used for the lower courses of the external walls, window surrounds and entrance. This is now clearly visible round the outer walls of the building. (lower left)
One can now walk across the new main hall and feel its shape and size (bigger than the old Barton Room). The photo below right shows the view across the floor into the servery area of the kitchen where the servery counter and fair trade display and cupboards will go.
