The Design and Cost
The appeal target is £970,000 which is required to fully fund the works. A contract for £771,000 has been let to Nobles Construction of Liverpool and on top of this consultancy fees and VAT is payable. The appeal target is not therefore fully funded and fund-raising continues.
It is costly because:
- We feel that we should aim for quality to meet both the present and future needs of the Church and community rather than cutting corners.
- We are building in a Conservation Area and have to meet strict planning requirements.
- A complete rebuild of the 1969 extension is necessary.
- The site is difficult to access for demolition and construction work.
- We feel the building should reflect the challenges of the time in the form of climate change and global warming.
